mimoLive uses a **document‑based workflow**. Each project is contained within a single file with the `.tvshow` extension.
You can open and work with multiple project documents at the same time, allowing for great flexibility in managing different productions.

**Templates** are reusable mimoLive documents. When you open a template, mimoLive automatically creates a new project file based on it. Any changes you make affect only the new file—your original template remains untouched.

#### Creating a New Document

When you launch mimoLive, the **New Document Window** appears by default. Here, you can start a new project or open a template.

##### Opening the New Document Window

- If the window doesn’t appear, access it manually via **File > New…** from the menu bar.
- To quickly create a blank document, hold down **Option** while choosing **File > New…**. *(This bypasses the window and instantly opens an empty project.)*

##### Using the New Document Window

At the top, you’ll find tabs for:

- **Recents** – Reopen recently used documents.
- **Templates** – Browse and select templates, including: Any templates you’ve created yourself, a completely empty document, perfect for starting from scratch, Tutorial templates to learn about mimoLive or Genre Templates dedicated to a special topic. ##### Choosing Frame Rate and Dimensions

After selecting a template:

- **Frame Rate** – Common choices are **30 fps** or **60 fps** for computer screen viewing, but you can choose others as needed.
- **Pixel Dimensions** – Select from standard video presets, or choose **Custom Dimensions…** to enter your own width and height. mimoLive supports non‑standard resolutions up to **8K UHD+ (7680 × 7680)**.

Once ready, click **Create New Document** to begin your project.

#### Working With Multiple Documents

mimoLive allows you to run multiple documents simultaneously. This is particularly useful if you’re managing different versions of a production—for example:

- One version for **live streaming**.
- Another for **live stage output**.

Both can be operated side by side.

#### Creating Your Own Templates

Templates are invaluable when you produce the same show repeatedly with a consistent setup (e.g., your studio configuration) but need to update details like titles or lower thirds for each show.

**Key Benefits:**

- Ideal for shared environments (e.g., schools) where multiple users work with mimoLive.
- Protects your original configuration from accidental changes.

**How to Create a Custom Template**:

1. Set up your document with the desired layers, sources, graphics, and configurations.
2. Go to **File > Save as Template**.
3. Enter a **name** and choose a **save location**.

Your custom template will now appear in the **Templates** tab of the New Document Window.

#### Editing a Template

- A template file uses the `.tvtemplate` extension.
- To edit, change the file extension to `.tvshow` and open it in mimoLive.
- Make the desired changes.
- Save it again as a template using **File > Save as Template**.

#### Sharing a Template

To share a template:

- The recipient can then use the template in their own mimoLive setup.
- Copy it from the **Group Container** on your account to the same location on another account or computer.
