mimoLive licenses follow the Mac App Store model: a license belongs to a person or to a shared Mac, not to a single computer. This page explains what that means in practice, how many licenses you need, and how subscriptions and the Free Evaluation Edition work. The legally binding text is the End User License Agreement (EULA).
Who a License Covers
Individuals: one license covers every Mac you own or control. Whether you use mimoLive privately or professionally does not change the count.
Companies, schools and other organizations: you can license mimoLive per person or per shared Mac.
- Per person: one license for each person who uses mimoLive on their own Macs. It covers all the Macs that person works on, such as a desktop in the studio and a laptop on the road.
- Per shared Mac: one license for each Mac that several people use in turn, for example a studio Mac in a school or a streaming station in a library. It covers everyone who uses that Mac.
How Many Licenses Do I Need?
Count the people who use mimoLive on their own Macs, then add the shared Macs. Some examples:
- A solo creator with a desktop and a laptop: 1 license.
- A producer in a company who uses a studio Mac and a MacBook: 1 license.
- Five producers, each on their own Mac: 5 licenses.
- One studio Mac in a school, used by many students in turn: 1 license.
- Three streaming stations shared by ten staff members who use mimoLive only on those stations: 3 licenses.
Installing Your License
Your purchase email contains a License Installation Link. Open it on each Mac the license covers, and mimoLive installs the license for you. You can also add a license by hand in mimoLive under mimoLive > Licenses… by pasting the license email. The Installation Guide walks through both ways.

Moving a License to a New Mac
You can move a license to a new Mac at any time, for example when you replace your computer. Install it on the new Mac from your License Installation Link. The only condition is that the rules above still hold: the license keeps covering one person’s Macs, or one shared Mac.
Subscriptions
Studio and Broadcast licenses are subscriptions, billed monthly or yearly. They renew automatically at the end of each period, at the same price, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in the FastSpring account management portal, which is also linked in your order emails. A cancelled subscription stays active until the end of the period you have paid for. After that, mimoLive keeps running with the watermark, like the Free Evaluation Edition.

The Free Evaluation Edition
The Free Evaluation Edition has the full mimoLive feature set, has no time limit and adds a watermark to your output. You may use it for commercial productions as well, as long as you leave the watermark in place.
What Is Not Allowed
- Renting, leasing, lending, selling or sublicensing a license.
- Sharing a license over a network, or using it on Macs you do not own or control.
- Removing or hiding the watermark of the Free Evaluation Edition.
- Copying, decompiling, reverse engineering or modifying mimoLive.
